We always love meeting creative folks at Posture, including the amazing interns we have the pleasure of working with. This fall, we’re joined by Alec Martin, a senior at Wilkes University studying Digital Design and Media. Alec is our second intern from Wilkes and we’re so glad he decided to join us!

Intern Alec Martin

Who are you?

Alec Martin

Where do you call home?

I grew up in New Milford PA. I often travel back home to hang out with friends and family, but I go to school in Wilkes-Barre PA so I currently live there.

What inspired you to study design at Wilkes University?

It was really a combination of things, from enjoying my marketing and graphic design classes in high school to being a part of my school’s yearbook club and gaining an enjoyment of layout from that. What really directed me to Wilkes was the Tom Bigler Conference that I attended during my senior year.

Who inspires you?

I pull inspiration from a number of places. Of course, there are a number of projects that I follow on social media that inspire me, but some of the best inspiration I have gotten is from the mistakes I might have made while doing something else. It can be funny how those things work out.

What made you want to work at Posture Interactive?

I was looking to do a second internship. Posture has been to a few Wilkes-hosted events so I knew of the company and some of the great work they have done. I wanted to intern at an agency with experienced and creative designers and I really found that to be true here.

What is the most interesting project/client you’ve worked on at Posture Interactive?

I really enjoyed working on the landing page for a new and upcoming beer company!

Besides your internship with us, what else do you have going on in your life?

On top of my internship here I am a Scholar of Digital Design and Media Arts at the Allan P. Kirby Center and a member of the Wilkes design club, Studio 20. When I have free time, I mostly spend it with friends and family. If the weather is nice, I like to kayak and hike (and if the weather is less than nice, I enjoy watching movies and tv shows.)

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

This is such a hard question for me to answer because I see myself as such an open book. If I had to guess something that most people wouldn’t know though, I would say that my least favorite color is red. It’s not a strong hatred, but something has to be last.

Illustrator, InDesign, or Photoshop?

Illustrator is my go-to. It might just be where I am most comfortable but everything just makes sense in that program. Photoshop is a close second though, it’s always fun to edit images and create fun things.

The zombie apocalypse is coming. Which 3 people do you want on your team?

Being a big fan of Zombieland, I know that I want a duo like Columbus and Tallahassee on my team. Of course, the movie showed that having a celebrity on the team might not be the best move (at least not Bill Murray,) so only time will tell who my Columbus and Tallahassee end up being. As far as my 3rd, I will have to hope my partner is with me throughout the apocalypse and I don’t have the luck of Columbus.
